"Concept & Proposal: Available for Commission / Site-Specific Adaptation. 2025-6
Project Title: The Ghost in the Cutting
Lead Artist & Designer: Emmanuel Okoro
The Vision
As a sculptor with over twenty years of experience , I have dedicated my practice to paring down forms to reveal the essence of a state of being. "The Ghost in the Cutting" represents an evolution of my narrative, moving from figurative bronze into large-scale, site-responsive structural landmarks.
This project is a conceptual study of humanity, legacy, and immortality. It utilizes six staggered monoliths of weathered Corten steel to create an anamorphic "solid shadow" of a GWR steam locomotive. The image only reveals itself from a specific vantage point, challenging the observer's eye and soul to find the hidden history within the landscape.
Technical Specifications & Scalability
Media: Grade S355J2W (Corten) Weathering Steel, structural resin infills, and reinforced concrete foundations. Engineering: Designed with 1000mm deep concrete pile foundations for permanent stability. Public Safety: Features 45° safety chamfered edges on all accessible steel corners to ensure a safe interaction for pedestrians and cyclists. Versatility: While designed as a gateway feature for the Honeybourne Line, this concept is highly scalable and can be adapted as a bespoke installation for corporate headquarters, private estates, or urban wayfinding projects.
Artist Statement
"I search for my own ‘Piece of the Rock,’ carving and moulding an artistic niche that bridges the gap between our tribal ancestry and our industrial future."
